The Lithari were a highly advanced civilization that lived long ago in Gearonia Caverns. One day, they mysteriously disappeared with no signs of conflict or struggle.

Culture & Philosophy

The Lithari believed in balance. While their society was highly industrialized, they directly replenished whatever they took from the environment. The main goal of their industrialization was to minimize physical labor and menial tasks, allowing citizens to pursue more fulfilling endeavors.

The religion followed by the Lithari viewed the surface as too unstable and unpredictable to thrive on, so Litharic citizens rarely, if ever, traveled outside. The caverns provided abundant energy sources, further validating their decision to build their civilization underground.

Litharic government was population-oriented, with leadership through councils rather than singular rulers. Their architecture was industrialist, built from stone and metal, and integrated into the cavern walls rather than using surface materials.

Disappearance & Ascension

The Lithari disappeared through religious ascension, shedding their material forms to exist as pure souls on a higher plane of existsence. Mario will eventually travel to this plane after completing every Trial of the Lithari. This new dimension houses the final and most difficult trial.

Connection to the Umbral Deluge

In ancient texts throughout Gearonia Caverns, the Lithari theorized and warned about material that Tobias Matcha later experimented with, which ultimately led to the accidental creation of the Umbral Deluge. Subtle thematic parallels will be drawn between the Lithari’s ascension and the Umbral Deluge, though this connection will never be outright stated. Their ascension was partially related to the potential dangers if this anamolous material got into the wrong hands.
